Wow, what a week. It's crazy that i have been in here for two and a half weeks but if feels like it has been pretty long. I am learning so much, and having so many experiences that keep me going but on top of that this week has had some down. My companion couldn't follow simple rules, he was aggressive when approached about it, and really he just wanted to sit on his bed in residence and eat chips and watch the Mormon Messages, or movies on LDS.org. That was all good until it came to him just getting up and leaving. That was a rule he just couldn't get a grip on. Once it got to the point of an argument, and eventually we got our Branch Pres. involved he hid on the toilet and than tried to fight me because I explained what was going on. Last night we got a companion change and things are looking better, though i'm sorry for the Elder who has to work with him now. But on a happier note, life is still good, i wouldn't and haven't dwell on my last companion and ...

Missionary  December 27, 2018 What an amazing opportunity I have been given to be able to serve the Lord. Though it has only been a week I love it. The MTC is awesome, i'm enjoying every minute of it. From meals, to class, to workout, to sleep. There is no place i would rather be at this moment of time.  The food is good, and it ends to pass through well, but every now and again it doesn't. But i do enjoy it, every meal has been awesome, especially when you realize that it tastes the way it does and has to feed so many elders.  I have been waking up every morning at 5:35, I get a workout in then shower before getting ready for the day. The rest of the day has consisted of class learning and practice teaching. Which is wonderful, but can become a drag. At meal times my district eats together with another from our zone, but fun fact my district has only elders. Though the input from only males in class can begin to feel like the same thing over and over, but i d...

Dear Family and Friends! This is the beginning of a long two years!  The past week has been full of last minute chasing and family time with I am so thankful for!  So, this is going to be a rather long email as I share with you plans that we have for Gavin the next two years.  Please bare with me!  I am also attaching pictures that have been taken over the past week.  I hope you enjoy our family journal of this special experience! To begin with, I am Gavin's mother, Amy Foy.  I will be getting weekly emails from Gavin and then I will forward them to you all.  I will be saving all the emails that he sends to me and I will be compiling a mission scrapbook for him.  I am very excited about this book.  I have a printing company up here that is going to be taking all emails we get, any pics he sends and we take to share with him, and anything YOU want to add too, and they are going to be printing Gavin a hard bound copy of his mission scra...

Gavin Sunderland was set apart as a Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on December 18, 2018. He was given such a beautiful blessing. These amazing men were a part of this special night. Included are Gavin's stake president, Edward Foy, Jonathan Sunderland, Gavin, Gavin's young mens leader and finally his bishop. — with Gavin Sunderland and Edward Foy in Syracuse, Utah . Today was the big day. Elder Gavin Sunderland entered the MTC in Provo, Utah this afternoon. I'll be posting pics of the past 24 hours soon. I will be sending out a group email from Gavin.
